Van der Zande: "Ik heb echt ontzettend veel zin in mijn debuut"

Het DTM-seizoen 2011 gaat komend weekend van start met een race op de Hockenheimring. Op de grid staat één Nederlander. Renger van der Zande zet zijn eerste stappen in de toerwagenserie en trappelt van ongeduld om te beginnen.

Ik heb echt ontzettend veel zin om mijn debuut te maken in de DTM. Hier hebben we hard voor geknokt en dat het nu gaat gebeuren, is fantastisch. Ik zal dit weekend alles in me opnemen en zo veel mogelijk proberen te leren. Ik rij in een 'Jahresauto', een Mercedes van één jaar oud. Hierin beginnen alle rookies, om zich vervolgens omhoog te werken. Het is een voorrecht om als fabriekscoureur op de grid te staan in Hockenheim en de DTM staat bekend om zijn spannende races, met veel teamstrategieën en pitstops, aldus Van der Zande.
