Ekstrom: "Voor elk gescoord punt krijg ik een biertje"

Mattias Ekstrom zal de race morgen in Zandvoort vanaf de zestiende plaats moeten aanvangen. De Zweedse Audi-coureur kende een erg teleurstellende kwalificatie en behaalde zijn slechtste resultaat in negen jaar tijd. Ekstrom blijft vertrouwen hebben in een goede afloop van de race.

Ekstrom wil een voorbeeld nemen aan Bruno Spengler, die in Hockenheim een slechte kwalificatie kende. In de race reed de Canadees echter naar de zesde plaats en Ekstrom hoopt morgen hetzelfde te kunnen doen. "Ik heb Gary's race later nog teruggezien op de televisie en hij kreeg enkele posities gemakkelijk cadeau van zijn teamgenoten", vertelde de tweevoudig DTM-kampioen.

"Ik ben er echter zeker van dat mijn teamgenoten ook zelf punten willen scoren, dus dat zal interessant gaan worden. Ik ga ervan uit dat ik wel plaatsen goed kan maken en voor elk punt dat ik morgen weet te behalen krijg ik een biertje."
