Walkenhorst Motorsport schrijft BMW M6 GT3 in voor 2021

Walkenhorst Motorsport heeft zich voor komend seizoen verbonden aan de DTM nieuwe stijl. De renstal zal gebruikmaken van de BMW M6 GT3. Hoeveel auto's het team aan de start zal brengen is nog niet duidelijk. Er zijn ook nog geen namen van coureurs bekendgemaakt.

Walkenhorst Motorsport timmert al sinds 2013 aan de weg in de GT3, met onder meer overwinningen in de 24 uur van Spa-Francorchamps en de Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS). Het team was vorig jaar ook in de DTM-paddock actief, namelijk in de DTM Trophy in het voorprogramma van de echte DTM-races.

"We zijn enthousiast om onze stap richting de DTM aan te kondigen", aldus teammanager Niclas Königbauer. "Als team hebben we hard gewerkt om dit project te realiseren. Na onze internationale prestaties in de voorbije jaren was de promotie naar de DTM een logische stap om onze GT3-activiteiten uit te breiden. Ons doel is om op het hoogst mogelijke niveau te acteren en voor ons is dat op dit moment de DTM."
