Rockenfeller en Van der Linde namens Abt in DTM dit jaar

Abt Sportsline is ook komend seizoen weer van de partij in de DTM. De Duitse renstal is een bekende naam in de toerwagenklasse, die voor 2021 op GT3-reglementen is overstapt. Abt Sportsline schrijft onder de nieuwe regels twee Audi R8 LMS-en in en heeft Mike Rockenfeller en Kelvin van der Linde bereid gevonden om die bolides de komende jaargang te besturen.

De 37-jarige Rockenfeller is een DTM-veteraan met 193 races achter zijn naam. Hij racete in 2011 al voor Abt Sportsline en veroverde in 2013 de DTM-titel met Phoenix Racing. Van der Linde staat aan de vooravond van zijn eerste DTM-seizoen. De 24-jarige Zuid-Afrikaan behoort al jaren tot de Audi-familie en won onder meer de 24 uur van de Nürburgring en de ADAC GT Masters met de R8 LMS.

Hans-Jürgen Abt over zijn line-up voor 2021: "De combinatie van een ervaren en succesvolle DTM-coureur en een bewezen expert met de Audi R8 LMS is ideaal voor onze toewijding richting de DTM. We kennen beide heren bijzonder goed en we respecteren elkaar. De chemie klopt gewoon."
