Martin Tomczyk aan kop tijdens afsluitende training

Martin Tomczyk heeft vanochtend de snelste tijd laten noteren tijdens de tweede vrije training. Op het circuit in Spielberg, tegenwoordig de Red Bull Ring genaamd, reed de Audi-coureur slechts 0.006 seconden sneller dan Miguel Molina. Ralf Schumacher was de snelste Mercedes-rijder op de negende plaats.

Audi was oppermachtig in deze afsluitende training. Schumacher stond even kort aan kop van de tijdenlijst, maar werd al snel teruggedrongen door de auto's van Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Tomczyk en Molina bleven Timo Scheider in een 2009-auto voor. Edoardo Mortara, die gisteren de snelste coureur was, eindigde als vierde, gevolgd door Mattias Ekstrom, Oliver Jarvis, Filipe Albuquerque en Mike Rockenfeller.

Ralf Schumacher was de snelste Mercedes-rijder op de negende stek. Hij kwam ruim vier tienden tekort op de tijd van Tomczyk. Gary Paffett eindigde als tiende, kampioenschapsleider Bruno Spengler als elfde en Renger van der Zande kwam met zijn twaalfde tijd een kleine zes tienden tekort op de toptijden.
