Götz houdt hoop op titel met zege op Norisring

De eennalaatste race van het DTM-seizoen is gewonnen door Maximilian Götz. Op het 2.17 kilometerlange circuit van de Norisring bleef de Mercedes-coureur voor Arjun Maini, de Indiër die verrassend zijn eerste podium pakte van 2021. Leider in de tussenstand Liam Lawson werd derde na zijn spannende strijd met zijn grootste titelconcurrent Kelvin van der Linde.

Voor deze race waren er nog vier kandidaten over met Lawson, Van der Linde, Götz en Marco Wittmann. Laatstgenoemde viel af in de strijd door een puntloze twaalfde plaats.

Lawson heeft met de finalerace van zondag in het vooruitzicht een puntentotaal van 224 punten, Van der Linde heeft er 206 en Götz 205. Met de kwalificatie en hoofdrace zijn er nog een totaal van 28 punten te verdienen.
