Götz wint verrassend kampioenschap dankzij teamwork van Mercedes

Maximilian Götz heeft de DTM-titel op het laatste moment in de wacht gesleept met een overwinning op de Norisring. De Duitser had hiervoor wel de hulp nodig van Mercedes-collega's om genoeg punten te scoren.

Na het wegvallen van Lawson leek Van der Linde de beste papieren in handen te hebben, maar na een touché met Götz in de slotfase was zijn wagen beschadigd en moest uitvallen.

Götz was hierdoor in één klap verlost van zijn rivalen, maar had wel nog een zege nodig om kampioen te worden. Dat leek een onmogelijke missie, maar conculega's met Mercedes-bolides hielpen Götz een handje door hem voorbij te laten. Daardoor kon de Duitser zegevieren en zeer verrassend gekroond worden als kampioen.

Verrassende uitkomst, de race opzich vond ik erg enerverend qua acties. KVL niet erg fair gereden. Had het Lawson ook zeker gegund, hij reed een enorm sterk seizoen.
