Renger van der Zande bestraft na afloop van kwalificatie

Renger van der Zande is door de wedstrijdleiding in Valencia bestraft met een gridpenalty. Zijn tijd uit Q4 is geschrapt en daardoor start de Nederlander vanaf de vierde plaats. Na zijn zeer goede kwalificatie, waarin hij de derde tijd reed, is dat nog altijd geen schande.

Volgens de stewards heeft Van der Zande in het derde kwalificatiedeel twee sets banden gebruikt. Er is in dat gedeelte maar één set toegestaan. Ze besloten om alleen zijn tijd uit Q4 te schrappen, waar de Nederlander volgens de stewards het meeste voordeel heeft ondervonden van deze extra set banden. Daarnaast heeft het Persson-team 1000 euro boete gekregen.
