Martin Tomczyk kampioen, dagsucces voor Mattias Ekstrom

Martin Tomczyk heeft zich zojuist tot de nieuwe kampioen van de DTM gekroond. De Duitse coureur eindigde in Valencia als derde en dat was genoeg om de titel veilig te stellen. Mattias Ekstrom zette zijn sterke reeks verder met opnieuw een overwinning.

Renger van der Zande werd gediskwalificeerd vanwege onrechtmatigheden aan zijn auto in de kwalificatie. De Nederlander reed voorwaardelijk mee, maar zijn vijfde positie telde niet. Daardoor eiste Audi de eerste zes plaatsen voor zich op. Voorlopig in elk geval, want Van der Zande en zijn team kunnen nog in beroep en als dat succesvol is krijgt hij zijn klassering en eerste punten in de DTM terug.
