BMW grijpt volledige eerste startrij op Lausitzring

BMW heeft een zeer goede kwalificatie achter de rug op de Lausitzring. Bruno Spengler bezorgde de Duitse autofabrikant al in de tweede race na hun comeback de pole position. Het werd nog mooier voor BMW, toen debutant Augusto Farfus de tweede plaats veroverde. Gary Paffett volgde in zijn Mercedes op de derde positie.

Gary Paffett begon het vierde kwalificatiegedeelte, waarbij de snelste vier coureurs uit de sessie één snelle ronde moeten rijden, als eerste. Hij maakte echter een foutje in zijn ronde, al was het genoeg om de derde startplaats veilig te stellen. Bruno Spengler was sneller dan Paffett en pakte de voorlopige pole positon.

Daarna kwam Mike Rockenfeller niet aan de snelste tijden en hij zal als vierde starten, nadat ook Augusto Farfus sneller was. De voormalige WTCC-coureur reed een sterke kwalificatie en pakte de tweede positie. Hiermee bezet BMW de volledige eerste startrij. Paffett en Rockenfeller maakten de twee rij dus compleet.

Edoardo Mortara kwam nét tekort voor een plaats in Q4 en zal de race op de Lauzitsring als vijfde starten. Hij werd gevolgd door Jamie Green, de derde BMW van regerend kampioen Martin Tomczyk en Mattias Ekstrom.

Timo Scheider was één van de grote tegenvallers in de kwalificatie. De Duitser kwam in het tweede gedeelte niet verder dan de twaalfde plaats, al was hij op dat moment maar vier tienden langzamer dan pacesetter Farfus. Ralf Schumacher en David Coulthard waren beiden al klaar na het eerste deel van de kwalificatie.

Is dit serieus....ongelooflijk!

Na eerste race riepen ze dat het wel een halve seizoen kon duren voordat BMW kon meedoen om podium. Als racesnelheid ook goed is dan is het echt een klap in gezicht van Audi en Mercedes.

Is mooi om te zien dat BMW meteen vooraan meedoet. Is echt heel close tussen de drie merken. Zo hoort het te zijn
