Audi oppermachtig op Zandvoort, Mortara voor Rockenfeller

Audi heeft bij de DTM-race op Circuit Park Zandvoort het volledige podium voor zich opgeeist. Het merk uit Ingolstadt is altijd sterk in de Nederlandse duinen en dit jaar was geen uitzondering. Edoardo Mortara won na een spannend gevecht met Mike Rockenfeller de wedstrijd.

De laatste trede op het podium ging naar Mattias Ekstrom. Jamie Green was op plek vier beste van de rest. De Mercedes-coureur deed goede zaken voor het kampioenschap, aangezien leider Gary Paffet slechts als zevende finishte. Paffett was in een duel met Martin Tomczyk ten tijde van een buitje midden in de race in de rondte getikt, waardoor hij achter zijn grootste concurrenten Green en Bruno Spengler van BMW belandde. Dat kon hij niet meer herstellen.

De race op Zandvoort kenmerkte zich door veel uitvallers. In de eerste ronde was het al einde verhaal voor Miguel Molina, Robert Wickens en Rahel Frey. Ook titelhouder Martin Tomczyk, tweevoudig kampioen Timo Scheider en oud Formule 1-rijder David Coulthard haalden de finish niet.
