Tomczyk ontvangt grid penalty voor aanrijding met Paffett

Martin Tomczyk verliest bij de volgende DTM-ronde op het circuit van Oschersleben vijf plaatsen na de kwalificatie. De regerend kampioen, uitkomend voor BMW, heeft een grid penalty gekregen omdat hij op Zandvoort de leider in de tussenstand, Gary Paffett, in de rondte tikte.

Hoewel Paffett zijn weg kon vervolgen en Tomczyk uitviel met schade hebben de stewards hem toch bestraft. "Persoonlijk vind ik het te zwaar, maar ik accepteer het. Ik ben een eerlijke sportman en heb direct mijn excuses aangeboden bij Norbert Haug van Mercedes. Ik heb me na de race ook bij Gary gemeld. Ik blokkeerde mijn wielen bij het insturen van de bocht. Ik probeerde nog om Gary heen te gaan, maar dat mislukte. De listige natte omstandigheden lagen ten grondslag aan dit incident."
