DTM treft maatregelen na verwarrende bandensituatie

De DTM beschikt sinds dit seizoen ook over zachte en harde compounds. Alleen was daar op de Hockenheimring weinig van te zien. De zachte band van Hankook heeft een gele markering, maar die was in het eerste weekend niet goed zichtbaar. Dat zorgde voor de nodige verwarring over wie op welke compound stond.

De organisatie heeft voor Brands Hatch ingegrepen met lichtjes aan de zijkant van de auto's die aan gaan zodra een coureur op de zachte band staat. ITR-voorzitter Hans Werner Aufrecht: "We moeten de toeschouwers ter plekke en de fans die de races via de televisie volgen veel beter informeren. Het dient ze volkomen duidelijk te zijn wat er gebeurt in de wedstrijd."

"In Hockenheim bleek dat de gele markering op de zachte band spotten vrijwel onmogelijk was. Ook de commentatoren hadden de grootst mogelijke moeite om te identificeren op welke compound iemand stond. We werken met de Duitse autosportbond en Hankook om dit te verbeteren, middels LED-lichtjes. We hopen dat dit een significante verbetering betekent in Brands Hatch."
