Rockenfeller heerst op Brands Hatch namens Audi

Mike Rockenfeller heeft de tweede ronde van het DTM-kampioenschap 2013 op zijn naam geschreven. De Audi-coureur vertrok van pole position op Brands Hatch, keek niet meer achterom en snelde naar de zege. Met BMW-rijder en titelhouder Bruno Spengler en Robert Wickens van Mercedes in de top drie waren alle merken vertegenwoordigd op het podium.

Rockenfeller reed onbedreigd naar de winst, maar dat betekent niet dat het een saaie race was. Achter de Duitser ontsponnen zich allerlei mooie duels in 98 ronden durende wedstrijd. Gary Paffett dacht zich van de derde plek te verzekeren, maar omdat hij onder gele vlaggen te weinig vaart had geminderd kreeg hij na afloop een tijdstraf van vijf seconden, waardoor Wickens op het podium belandde.

Martin Tomczyk was eerder in het weekend al tot de orde geroepen. De BMW-coureur pakte pole position, maar zijn auto werd te licht bevonden. Hij startte als laatste en finishte als dertiende. Augusto Farfus was de enige uitvaller, hij viel stil op het rechte stuk. Rockenfeller is na zijn overwinning ook de leider in de tussenstand met 29 punten, een puntje meer dan Spengler.
