Paffett bezorgt Mercedes eerste zege van het seizoen

Gary Paffett heeft de DTM-race op de Lausitzring gewonnen. De Engelsman startte als tweede, nam bij de start de koppositie over en stond die vervolgens niet meer. Het betrof de eerste overwinning voor Mercedes in het seizoen 2013.

Naast Paffett mochten ook Mike Rockenfeller en polesitter Christian Vietoris het podium beklimmen. BMW kwam er in Lausitz niet aan te pas, Bruno Spengler eindigde op P7 als beste van het Beierse merk.

In het kampioenschap delen Spengler en Rockenfeller nu de eerste plaats, met allebei 59 punten. Paffett steeg door zijn triomf naar de derde plek. Hij heeft nu 47 punten.
