Marco Werner vervangt Premat

Audi-coureur Alexandre Premat heeft het ziekenhuis inmiddels verlaten, maar een gebroken ruggenwervel zorgt er wel voor dat hij er bij de volgende race in Oschersleben niet bij zal zijn. De Fransman wordt daar vervangen door Marco Werner, die op 6 mei zijn debuut in de DTM zal maken.

Premat was afgelopen zondag bij de openingsrace op de Hockenheimring betrokken bij een zware crash waarbij ook stalgenoot Kristensen betrokken was. De Audi A4 van de Deen was veel zwaarder beschadigd dan die van de Fransman, maar het lichaam van Premat had blijkbaar een grotere klap te verduren gekregen. De 25-jarige coureur stapte wel gelijk uit zijn auto na het ongeval en wilde weglopen, maar door de pijn viel hij op de grond.

Door de blessure van Premat krijgt de 41-jarige Werner de kans om in een andere rol voor Audi uit te komen. De Duitser staat later dit jaar al de start van de 24 uur van Le Mans voor het Duitse automerk. Ik had deze kans natuurlijk veel liever onder andere omstandigheden gekregen. Ik wens Alexandre het allerbeste. Ik hoop dat ik zijn plek waardig kan vervangen en ik ben blij met het vertrouwen dat Audi in me heeft, aldus Werner.
