Komend weekend staat de derde DTM-race van het seizoen op het programma. Locatie is de EuroSpeedway in Lausitz, ook wel de Lausitzring genoemd. Audi-coureur Mike Rockenfeller hoopt daar zijn derde plek van de race op het circuit van Oscherleben te herhalen. De Duitser over een rondje op het 3,4 kilometer lange circuit.

Rockenfeller: De baan die we voor de DTM gebruiken bestaat uit delen van de oval en we hebben een gewoon circuitgedeelte. We merken helemaal niks van die oval-bochten met een helling, alleen de laatste bocht voor start en finish is een oval-bocht. Maar dat is niet zo interessant. De rest van het circuit is veel interessanter.

Vooral de 180-graden rechterbocht in het circuitgedeelte is veeleisend voor de coureurs en de autos. Die blijft maar gaan, er lijkt geen eind aan te komen. Daar heb je een stabiele auto nodig, want je gaat zo over de limiet in die bocht. De andere bochten zijn vrij langzaam en erg technisch. Daar moet je heel soepel doorheen.

De laatste bochtensessie is misschien wel het belangrijkste. Want het einde van het rechte stuk van start en finish is een mooie mogelijkheid om iemand in te halen en dan moet je goed door de laatste bocht komen. Vroeger was dit nog een bocht in de vorm van een s, nu is het meer een hairpin. Daardoor moet je hard remmen en ik verwacht dus veel uitremacties komende zondag.
