Van der Garde wint op Silverstone

Oud Formule 1-coureur Giedo van der Garde heeft zijn terugkeer op het circuit opgeluisterd met een strakke overwinning in de European Le Mans Series (ELMS) op het circuit van Silverstone. Van der Garde boekte zijn overwinning in de LMP2-klasse.

De basis voor de overwinning werd in de eerste stint gelegd door Van der Garde's teamgenoot Ticknell. In de eerste stint bouwde het team een voorsprong op van vijfentwintig seconden. Van der Garde reed de laatste stint en wist de voorsprong op de concurrentie verder uit te bouwen.

Van der Garde is uiteraard blij met zijn overwinning: "De auto was top, het team heeft het erg goed gedaan. Mijn teamgenoten hebben fantastisch werk geleverd in de eerste stints, ik hoefde alleen te controleren en wist zelfs nog een grotere voorsprong te maken. Het was even wennen in het begin, zeker de snelheidsverschillen zijn even wennen."

    Was wel grappig hoe hij in de laatste rondes nog vol zat te trappen, en in zijn laatste rondje de snelste ronde van de auto reed, terwijl je zijn teamgenoten zag denken van "Je ligt ruim een minuut voor, doe nou maar rustig aan" :p
