Van Uitert leeft toe naar nieuw seizoen: "Pakket ziet er goed uit"

Terwijl het Formule 1-circus nog eventjes stil ligt, gaat er dit weekend een ander groot kampioenschap van start. In Barcelona wordt namelijk het nieuwe seizoen van de European Le Mans Series afgetrapt. Job van Uitert is één van de kanshebbers op de titel en hij kijkt uit naar het seizoen.

Van Uitert blijft actief voor het team van Panis Racing. In dienst van deze renstal eindigde de Nederlander vorig jaar op de tweede plaats in het kampioenschap. Door deze prestatie mogen Van Uitert en zijn teamgenoten later dit jaar deelnemen aan de wereldberoemde 24 uur van Le Mans. Voorlopig focust men zich nog op het ELMS en ook daar liggen genoeg kansen.

Sterk veld

Na lang wachten gaat het ELMS-seizoen dit jaar eindelijk van start. De coureurs komen dit weekend in actie op het circuit van Barcelona en in een persbericht is Van Uitert enthousiast: "Eindelijk begint het weer. Uiteraard heb ik niet de gehele winter stilgezeten, ik nam deel aan de 24 uur van Daytona, maar de prettigste periode van het jaar van een autocoureur is wanneer we regelmatig mogen racen. Het ELMS-veld is ongelooflijk sterk, er is flink wat kwaliteit toegevoegd over de winter. Dat maakt het extra uitdagend en plezierig. Als je van deze tegenstanders kan winnen, dan heb je het goed voor elkaar."

Teamgenoten

Van Uitert voelt zich ook op zijn plek bij het team van Panis Racing. Hij deelt zijn wagen dit jaar met landgenoot Tijmen van der Helm en de Venezolaan Manuel Maldonado. Van Uitert verwacht er veel van: "Het pakket ziet er goed uit en ik voel mij bijzonder op mijn plaats bij dit team. Mijn Franse collega-coureurs zijn vertrokken, maar met Tijmen en Manuel hebben we zeer capabele vervangers in huis gehaald. Ik ken Manuel nog van mijn tijd bij United Autosports en ik heb vorig jaar gezien hoe rap en indrukwekkend Tijmen zich kon aanpassen aan het enduranceracen."
