Coureurs verzoeken Pirelli om tikkeltje zachtere banden

Pirelli mag de banden die het meeneemt naar de races wel wat zachter maken. Dat is de conclusie die enkele coureurs trekken na de eerste zes Grands Prix in 2014. Pirelli speelde voor dit seizoen op veilig vanwege de ingrijpende regelwijzigingen op andere vlakken. Nu de storm over de nieuwe motoren grotendeels is gaan liggen kunnen de compounds wel weer wat avontuurlijker.

Dat is de mening van Ferrari-rijder Fernando Alonso. "De banden zijn te hard, dat is geen geheim. Met deze compounds kost het ons acht, negen ronden om het rubber op temperatuur te krijgen. Daardoor zijn we zo langzaam. De banden blijven koud, het is zeer lastig om ze op temperatuur te brengen. Dat is hoe het nu is. Het is voor iedereen hetzelfde. Aan ons de taak om er beter mee om te springen dan de rest."

Force India-rijder Sergio Perez uitte eerder ook al forse kritiek op Pirelli. Daar voegt hij nu aan toe: "De banden kunnen misschien een tikkeltje zachter. Als je de races tot nu toe van dit jaar analyseert, dan zie je dat zachtere compounds mogelijk waren. Dat zou het plezier voor de coureurs ten goede komen en bovendien geeft het meer opties voor de strategie."

De reactie van Pirelli-motorsportbaas Paul Hembery: "We zijn beperkt in onze testmogelijkheden, dus het is makkelijk om een verlanglijstje op te stellen. Dit soort dingen gaat langzaam omdat we eerst met zekerheid willen weten dat we het beoogde effect teweeg kunnen brengen. Vorig jaar vroegen ze om hardere banden, nu weer om zachtere banden. Dat verandert van dag tot dag. Mercedes heeft volgens mij geen problemen met de banden."

Nee Mercedes zal wel weer 'n geheime test hebben gedaan of gegevens toegespeelt hebben gekregen.Vorig jaar hadden Mercedes en Red Bull problemen en de banden werden meteen aangepast en wel ten nadele van Lotus en Ferrari.Nu geven meerdere teams aan dat er teveel verschil zit in de compound vergeleken met vorig jaar,maar het zijn teams die er "niet" toe doen volgens Pirelli .Het is maar goed dat er zulke leuke teams zijn zoals Force India,Marussia,Lotus enz maar ook twee grote Mc Laren en Ferrari vinden de banden te veel afwijken met die van vorig seizoen.
