Susie Wolff zet meer optredens op haar verlanglijstje

Susie Wolff heeft zich in de eerste vrije training voor de Grand Prix van Duitsland van haar beste kant laten zien. Het was even schrikken toen in de installatieronde allerlei lichten op het dashboard begonnen te flikkeren en de gedachten gingen terug naar de sessie op Silverstone die in het water viel. Gelukkig bleek het loos alarm en kon de Schotse nu wel laten zien waartoe ze in staat is.

Wolff was uiteindelijk maar twee tienden langzamer dan Felipe Massa. "Voor Silverstone was de hype enorm omdat het een historische gebeurtenis was. Er werd veel over gesproken. Maar ik laat mijn daden liever voor zich spreken. Men vraagt mij vaak of ik goed genoeg ben, of vrouwen sterk genoeg zijn voor de Formule 1. Voor mij is het zo dat wanneer ik mijn helm op zet en mijn vizier naar beneden doe, dan ben ik totaal niet bezig met wie om me heen rijdt."

"Silverstone was een gemiste kans, dus het was belangrijk om dat hier recht te zetten. Het was zaak om me nu wel te laten zien en de rest komt dan vanzelf. Ik voelde me klaar, maar de Formule 1 is zoals bekend een ruige omgeving. Het is niet makkelijk om een kans af te dwingen. Voor mij was dit een volgende stap in mijn reis."

"Het team was tevreden over mijn bijdrage, dat was het belangrijkste. Nu moet ik zien wat er verder mogelijk is. Het is duidelijk dat het lastig wordt om dit seizoen vaker in actie te komen voor Williams, maar dat staat wel op mijn verlanglijstje."
