Gutierrez staat open voor reserverol bij een topteam

Esteban Gutierrez is bereid om een positie als test- en reserverijder te accepteren voor 2015. De enige voorwaarde is dan wel dat hij bij een topteam aan de slag wil. De Mexicaan was de afgelopen twee seizoenen actief voor Sauber. Tot nu toe wist hij pas één keer in de punten te eindigen.

Sauber bracht Gutierrez eerder al op de hoogte dat ze voor volgend jaar geen plek voor hem hebben. Ondanks zijn redelijk gevulde sponsorbuidel is de Mexicaan ook niet echt bij andere teams in beeld voor een racestoeltje. Het is niet uit luxe dat hij zich beschikbaar stelt voor een reserverol.

F1news.ru citeert Gutierrez: "Ik weet niet waar ik volgend jaar rij. Ik heb de geruchten over Lotus ook gehoord, maar daar zijn beide zitjes nu bezet na de bevestiging van Grosjean. Ik ben in gesprek met andere renstallen om mijn carrière als racecoureur in leven te houden."

"In de Formule 1 heb je altijd een plan A, plan B en plan C. Het is nog even een paar weken wachten. De functie van reservecoureur bij een topteam is een van de opties, dan wel met vrijdagtrainingen. Er zijn andere interessante mogelijkheden. Hopelijk kan ik binnenkort meer zeggen."
