Wolff vindt zichzelf goed genoeg voor racezitje

Veertig jaar nadat Lella Lombardi als enige vrouw in de geschiedenis van de Formule 1 punten scoorde draafde Susie Wolff op voor de eerste vrije training van de Grand Prix van Spanje. De Schotse nam plaats in de Williams en was acht tienden langzamer dan Felipe Massa.

Een racedebuut ligt niet in de lijn der verwachting, maar Wolff blijft hoop houden. "Als ik niet zou denken dat ik dit niveau aankan, dan had ik mezelf al lang geleden terug getrokken. Ik geloof voor de volle honderd procent dat vrouwen zich kunnen handhaven in de Formule 1."

"Ik ben niet verbitterd dat Williams een andere reservecoureur heeft aangetrokken. Het was wel een teleurstelling, maar dit is een wereld met veel concurrentie. De beste coureurs proberen allemaal een plekje te bemachtigen. Ik wist dat de weg bezaaid zou zijn met obstakels en dat is ook zo."

      ze heeft nooit ergens enig aansprekend resultaat gehaald, dus dat lag aan haar.

      Die resultaten trouwens: 5e in haar 3e jaar Brits Formule Renault(18e in het 1e jaar, 9e in het 2e jaar), 18e in de Britse F3 en 17e, 20e,18e,16e en 13e in het DTM kampioenschap met 2x een 7e plaats als beste in 72 races.

      en ze won ook nooit een race, zelfs in het jaar dat ze 5e werd in de Formule Renault 2.0 haalde ze een 2e plek als beste resultaat.

      Nee, op een andere site hadden ze een iets andere versie van het verhaal en aangezien daar de verhalen vandaan worden vertaald, hebben ze dat denk ik overzien.

    Ik denk dat ze goed genoeg voor een deugdelijke tijd over een ronde, maar zeker niet voor een hele race. Ik betwijfel of ze het inzicht heeft gekregen na de jaren in de DTM. Ze is snel, maar geen racer. In de DTM liet ze vaak zien geen inzicht in het racen te hebben en reed meer in de weg dan wat anders. Ik blijf erbij dat ze een marketing tool is en geluk heeft met haar man.
