Sainz hoopt te kunnen schitteren tijdens thuisrace

Carlos Sainz hoopt een goede thuisrace te kunnen rijden tijdens de Grand Prix van Spanje van aankomende zondag. De vrijdag was in ieder geval een goede voorbode voor de Spanjaard. Tijdens de eerste vrije training was hij vijfde, in de tweede sessie eindigde hij als negende.

"Het was een positieve vrijdag voor ons", aldus Sainz. "We zagen direct dat de auto zich goed aanpaste aan de lastige condities en dat gaf me direct veel vertrouwen."

"De tweede training was iets lastiger omdat ik wat problemen had met de afstelling van de auto, maar we weten wat we moeten doen om dit te verbeteren. Het is geweldig om te rijden in Barcelona en zoveel Spaanse fans te zien. Ik kijk uit naar de rest van het weekend."

Sainz eindigde de vrijdag als snelste Spanjaard, met Fernando Alonso op de elfde positie en Roberto Merhi als twintigste en hekkensluiter.
