Vleugeltje Williams op bodemplaat 'niet legaal'

De Williams van Susie Wolff werd gisteren uitgerust met een agressief uitziend vleugeltje, dat gemonteerd was op de bodemplaat vlak voor de achterwielen. Volgens het Duitse Auto Motor und Sport is het vleugeltje echter niet conform de reglementen.

Na onderzoek van het technische reglement en een rondgang bij de andere teams, komt Auto Motor und Sport tot die conclusie. "Duidelijk illegaal. Het lijkt erop alsof Williams op een makkelijke manier meer downforce aan de achterkant wilde testen," wordt een teamlid van een rivaliserend team geciteerd.

Het vleugeltje van Williams was niet de enige opvallende vondst tijdens de test op de Red Bull Ring. Zo reed Force India met de 'B-spec' auto van de VMJ08, die een apart uitziende neus had. Aan de voorkant van de neus zitten twee grote neusgaten. Ook over de legaliteit van deze oplossing rezen vragen bij andere teams. Onterecht, volgens Auto Motor und Sport. "Het is legaal. De neus is bij de tweede poging door de verplichte crashtest gekomen."

    Als Williams het alleen tijdens de tests en niet tijdens de races gebruikt dan is er toch niets aan de hand?
    Ze mogen toch testen met verschillende specs en atributen?
    Susie rijdt toch de hele tijd met trilballen rond.

      Ze zeggen toch ook niet dat er iets aan de hand is?

      Het is uiteraard wel opmerkelijk dat ze een "illegale" wagen testen. De vraag rijst dan waarom ze dat doen en of ze zich misschien vergissen.

    Die neusgaten van de FI worden gemaakt met het vanity-panel. Het "neusbotje" is de daadwerkelijk neus.

    Je mag zelfs testen met een volledig illegale auto, alleen schiet je er niks mee op.

      Ligt eraan wat je wil testen. De extra gegenereerde druk op achterkant gisteren kan best bedoeld zijn om alvast te kijken wat dat met de banden doet. Wetende dat er een update gaat komen die meer druk op de achterkant gaat zetten, ik noem maar wat.
