Celis Jr. test maandag en donderdag voor Force India

Alfonso Celis Jr. mag maandag namens Force India het baandebuut van de VJM09 verzorgen. De ontwikkelingsrijder van het team zal ook donderdag plaats nemen in de auto. Vaste racecoureurs Sergio Perez en Nico Hülkenberg zullen de andere twee dagen testen voor het team.

Na de Grand Prix van Abu-Dhabi vorig jaar mocht de Mexicaan namens Force India ook al deelnemen aan de bandentest van Pirelli. Dat was destijds het debuut van Celis Jr. in de Formule 1. Celis Jr. coureur sloot de test af als veertiende.

Afgelopen jaar kwam Celis Jr. uit in de Formule Renault 3.5 en de GP3, waarin hij één podiumfinish wist te behalen.

Vlak voordat de sessie aankomende maandag begint zal Force India de nieuwe VJM09 prestenteren. Daarna mag de Mexicaan plaatsnemen in de auto. Later volgende week komt hij nogmaals in actie voor het team. De tweede testweek zal Celis Jr. niet meer in actie komen voor het team. Wel heeft Force India toegezegd dat de Mexicaan gedurende het seizoen tijdens zeven Grands Prix op vrijdag mag deelnemen aan de eerste vrije training.

Force India heeft dus wel echt vertrouwen in die jongen. Testdagen geven aan iemand met weinig F1 ervaring is naar mijn mening wel een beetje tricky...

  Potentiële sponsors? Ik denk dat er al genoeg pesos in de buidel van Force India terecht zijn gekomen. Anders laat je zo'n middelmatige coureur toch niet los op je spiksplinternieuwe auto voor het komende seizoen?

  Das eerste wat ik dacht, die moet wel leuke duit mee nemen; lijkt me niet helemaal logisch om niet je vaste rijders voor start seizoen veel te laten testen.

Heel apart dat ze niet niet starten met Hulk en Perez. Als dit puur voortkomt uit geldnood, dan kunnen ze zich dit seizoen misschien ook niet goed doorontwikkelen. Het lijkt steeds dichter bij elkaar te komen in de subtop. Dat kan wel eens mooi spektakel worden voor ons als fans.

Bizar maar gezien de problemen bij de eigenaren van Force India zullen ze alles doen om zo veel mogelijk geld binnen te halen.

  Dan kan iemand wel gaan zitten minnen, maar het lijkt mij toch volkomen duidelijk dat het waanzin is om een 19 jarige die nog nooit een serieuze race heeft gewonnen je nieuwe wagen waar alles van af hangt te laten testen. Of ze moeten (in tegenstelling tot wat er in het bericht staat) geen nieuwe wagen hebben en gaan racen met die B-spec van vorig jaar.

Daar zitten we allen al weken op te wachten.
Die Celis Jr. wortdt één van de grootsten uit de geschiedenis van de autosport.
En de talentscouts van Force India hadden dit al eerder door en hebben voor de neus van de grote team deze jongen kunen stricken.
