Ricciardo toont potentieel RB12, Kvyat wederom niet gestart in Melbourne

Red Bull Racing sloot de Grand Prix van Australië af met gemengde gevoelens. Thuisrijder Daniel Ricciardo wist een prima tempo te rijden met de RB12 en finishte als twaalde, terwijl Daniil Kvyat voor het tweede jaar op rij niet van start kon gaan in Melbourne. Vorig jaar vanwege motorproblemen, dit jaar vanwege een electronisch defect.

Kvyat baalt vanzelfsprekend stevig, maar geeft ook toe beter om te kunnen gaan met de situatie dan een jaar geleden: "Het lijkt erop dat er iets stuk is gegaan in de electronica. Voor de start schakelde de auto zichzelf uit. Het is teleurstellend, maar in Bahrein hebben we weer een kans. Vorig jaar had ik het echt zwaar nadat ik niet kon starten, maar ik ben als persoon verandert waardoor ik beter met dit soort teleurstellingen kan omgaan.

In de andere RB12 reed Daniel Ricciardo naar een keurige vierde plaats aan de finish. Riccardo is vooral blij vanwege het feit dat het gaat naar Mercedes en Ferrari overbrugbaar is: "Het was genieten vandaag. Ik heb het team meerdere keren laten weten hoe blij ik was dat ik weer kon racen. De blijheid kwam ook door de goede auto die het team mij gaf. Bij de start wist ik wat plekken te winnen en kon ik de andere auto's bijhouden. Ik kwam zelfs op koers voor het podium te liggen en hoopte dat de banden het zouden houden tot het einde, maar dat was iets te optimistisch. Vierde is echter nog steeds prima en ik ben blij dat we niet ver van Ferrari en Mercedes af lijken te zitten."

Was ook echt verrast over de snelheid van de RB. Toch een aardige sprong gemaakt daar....

  Echt wel. Waar komt die snelheid ineens vandaan. Ze vlogen. Maar ja, wel leuk voor Riciardo en.........ze hebben naar mijn smaak de mooiste livery van de F1 rondrijden op de baan.

  Inderdaad, nu zullen ze bij RB niet zo snel gaan zeuren. Maar ik vraag mij wel af wat die RB met een Ferrari motor van 2015 had gedaan. Ik denk dat Ferrari en Mercedes voor hun eigen er goed aan hebben gedaan om geen motoren te leveren.

  klopt .. en met een budget van 130 miljoen per jaar moet je niet verwachten 4 top notch wheelgunners te kunnen contracteren en dan ook nog 8 goede schoolverlaters om een band aan te geven of af te nemen. Je ziet bij RBR dat hun 460miljoen goed besteed is...naar mijn indruk zit 80% van dat budget in de pitcrew alleen al.

Als ik Kvyat was zou ik me voortaan bedenken om naar Australië te gaan :+ :P al kwam hij dit jaar verder..

Verder Ricciardo erg goed, ze hebben een goeie strategie in elkaar gezet door op het einde naar de supersofts te gaan , over het algemeen was de Renault motor aardig goed, (tuurlijk Mercedes ligt nog voor) maar ze hebben een inhaalslag gemaakt snelheid zat er aardig in)

Ze vlogen op het rechte stuk gewoon williams met een mercedes motor voorbij.. realiseerde ik me pas 2 bochten verder maar goed.. wauw :)
