Renault doet onderzoek naar brand in auto Palmer

Bij het vallen van de vlag op de tweede testdag afgelopen week op het circuit van Silverstone vatte de Renault RS16 van Jolyon Palmer vlam. Het team heeft wel een vermoeden wat de oorzaak is, maar is nog steeds bezig met het onderzoek naar de brand.

Frederic Vasseur, teambaas van Renault: "De auto van Jolyon Palmer vatte vlam. We denken aan een hydraulisch lek, maar we hebben de exacte oorzaak nog niet gevonden. Gelukkig gebeurde het aan het einde van de dag en heeft het ons programma verder niet beïnvloed."

Palmer reed afgelopen woensdag bijna honderd ronden op Silverstone en richtte zich daarbij op nieuwe onderdelen voor de ophanging. Op de eerste dag kwam de Rus Sergey Sirotkin in actie voor het Franse team.
