Grosjean spreekt van 'slechtste vrijdag' ooit

Voor het team van Haas verliep de eerste dag in Singapore met wisselend succes. Esteban Gutierrez kende een degelijke eerste, terwijl Romain Grosjean naar eigen de slechtste vrijdag ooit kende. De Fransman miste een groot deel van VT1 en had in VT2 met een kapotte achtervleugel te maken.

In VT1 kampte Grosjean met een probleem aan het inlaatsysteem van de motor. Tussen de trainingen door besloot Haas de motor van Grosjean te wisselen. In de tweede vrije training maakte Grosjean zelf een fout door te spinnen en de muur te raken. Hierbij raakte de achtervleugel beschadigd en was de eerste dag over voor Grosjean.

"Ik heb nog nooit een vrijdag als deze meegemaakt. In de eerste training hadden we een motorprobleem. In de tweede training ging ik meteen naar buiten, maar voelde de auto echter niet goed aan. We hadden problemen met de remmen en de balans en uiteindelijk spinde ik.", vat Grosjean zijn dag samen.

Grosjean baalt vooral van de problemen door het feit dat hij de verbeterde onderdelen op zijn auto niet uitgebreid heeft kunnen testen. De Fransman denkt er zelfs over om terug te gaan naar de oude configuratie van het pakket: "Het was erg lastig, omdat ik het nieuwe pakket niet echt heb aan kunnen voelen. Ik weet niet in hoeverre het de auto beter heeft gemaakt, maar ik voelde me er nog niet heel fijn bij. Misschien moet ik wel terug naar de oude configuratie."

Teamgenoot Gutierrez kende een heel andere vrijdag. De Mexicaan zit de laatste tijd lekker in zijn vel, al zijn er nog geen punten gescoord: "Het was erg interessant om met het nieuwe pakket te rijden. Er zit veel potentie in, maar we moeten er nog aan wennen omdat de auto anders aanvoelt. We moeten kijken hoe we er meer uit kunnen halen. Ik zie het in ieder geval als een positieve stap."

Ook nog verloren met kaarten dus? Onze halve Amerikaan wist wel heel Amerikaans lekker voor de camera demonstratief te gaan zitten kaarten tijdens de VT om aan te geven hoe zielig hij is ja :D
