Grosjean en Gutierrez verwachten lastige thuisrace voor Haas F1

Voor het eerst in dertig jaar komt er een Amerikaans Formule 1-team uit op Amerikaanse bodem. Haas-coureurs Romain Grosjean kenden echter een lastige kwalificatie voor de thuisrace op het Circuit of the Americas en verwachten het ook in de race moeilijk te krijgen. Gutierrez start de race als veertiende, terwijl Grosjean vanaf de zeventiende plaats mag vertrekken.

Gutierrez vat zijn weekend tot dusver samen als lastig: "Het is niet gemakkelijk. Op vrijdag hadden we het al lastig en verloren we ook nog eens onderdelen van de auto. Dat zorgde ervoor dat we de nieuwe voorvleugel niet konden gebruiken en dat kostte ons weer neerwaartse druk. Ik ga in de race alles om geven om het thuispubliek een mooi resultaat te bezorgen."

In de andere VF-16 deed de ervaren Romain Grosjean het nog wat minder goed. De Fransman start de race als zeventiende en omschrijft dezelfde problemen als Gutierrez: "De auto komt neerwaartse druk tekort en op dit circuit is dat lastig. De bochten op lage snelheid zijn erg lastig voor ons, op vrijdag zag het er al niet goed uit. Hopelijk kunnen we het team een positief resultaat geven, maar het ziet er niet goed uit."
