Zicht met cockpitbescherming kan Kevin Magnussen niet bekoren

Kevin Magnussen probeerde in de eerste vrije training van de Grand Prix van Mexico de zogenoemde 'halo' uit op zijn Renault. Heel tevreden over de cockpitbeschermer was de Deen niet en het verminderde zicht was daar vooral de oorzaak van.

Magnussen was niet de enige die met de 'halo' reed in de vrije training. Ook Pascal Wehrlein en Felipe Nasr probeerden het uit, en alle drie gingen ze van de baan tijdens hun run. De Renault-coureur sprak zich na afloop dan ook uit. "Ik vind het niets. Het is alsof je je pet tot halverwege je ogen over je hoofd trekt. Het zicht was niet zo goed als ik had gehoopt en met hoogteverschillen zal het problemen geven."

De Deen deed ook nog een uitstaptest, die hij binnen de vereiste tijd wist te voltooien. Toch plaatste hij daar een kanttekening bij. "Ik weet de resultaten niet precies, maar het was niet makkelijk." Ook zou Magnussen niet graag in een situatie met echt vuur uit moeten stappen met een 'halo'. Wehrlein was iets milder in zijn kritieken maar, ook hij moet nog wennen aan de beschermer. "Het is afleidend. Uiteindelijk wen je toch aan alles, en als het de veiligheid bevordert steun ik het ook", zo liet hij optekenen bij Auto, Motor und Sport.

onbegrijpelijk dat er niet (gewoon logisch) al dat geld in de ontwikkeling van een betere helm wordt gestopt! stelletje sukkels!!!!
