Felipe Nasr staat op de shortlist van Force India

Felipe Nasr behoort tot de kandidaten om de lege plek bij Force India naast Sergio Perez op te vullen in 2017. Bij de Indiase renstal is een vacature ontstaan doordat Nico Hülkenberg na dit seizoen naar Renault verhuist. Er doen verhalen de rondte dat Esteban Ocon reeds is vastgelegd als diens opvolger, maar vice-teambaas Bob Fernley bestrijdt dat in Globo.

"De lijst gegadigden is lang", begint hij. "Felipe Nasr staat op die lijst. Vijay Mallya, Andrew Green en ik zullen de namen één voor één langslopen. We geven onze mening over wie wij het beste vinden passen bij Force India. De opvolger van Nico moet snel zijn, ervaring hebben en het team kunnen helpen om te groeien. We gaan op zoek naar een consensus en dat gebeurt meestal niet in de eerste bespreking. Persoonlijk denk ik niet dat we meteen een nieuwe rijder bekend kunnen maken."

Renault-rijder Jolyon Palmer zou een andere naam op de lijst van Force India zijn. Vader Jonathan Palmer verkondigde aan The Sun: "Jolyon zou dolgraag voor Renault blijven racen. Hij heeft dit jaar veel tijd en energie in het team gestoken en hij is enthousiast over de toekomstperspectieven. Echter, als dat niet lukt, dan is Force India natuurlijk een geweldig alternatief. Dat is dus zeker iets dat we in ons achterhoofd houden."

GP2-leider Antonio Giovinazzi, eerder nog door Fernley genoemd als mogelijke optie, is niet meer dan een outsider. Andrew Green, technisch directeur bij Force India, dicht de Italiaan weinig kansen toe. "Ik geef de voorkeur aan rijders met ervaring in de Formule 1, helemaal met de nieuwe reglementen voor 2017."

  Wibi het stond gister tussen aanhalingstekens. Dat betekent dat ze ergens dachten dat Ocon getekend had maar dat het nog een gerucht is. En een gerucht is niet altijd de waarheid.

  Heb ik gisteren gereageerd op een artikel dat tussen aanhalingstekens staat ? Daarmee is deze site ook vervallen tot een soort Privé, Story of Weekend... Daar zal ik eens meer op gaan letten en er gepast op reageren...thanks !

  Ik mis in het artikel dat ook meegebracht geld een rol speelt. Maar dat willen ze waarschijnlijk niet openlijk uitspreken, politics.

Op basis van de prestaties lijkt zelfs zijn teamgenoot meer recht te hebben op dat stoeltje.
Uiteindelijk heeft Nasr dit jaar niets opmerkelijk getoond.

Hij heeft het 'geluk' de enige braziliaan te zijn in de F1, lijkt me...

  Hoeft niets te betekenen, denk ik. Hij zal wel op de shorlist staan, in vergelijking met Ocon.
  Wehrlein zou ik in de FI wel eens willen zien, eigenlijk nog liever dan Ocon.

  Overigens, vooral omdat ik Wehrlein wat hoger inschat dan Ocon.
  Wehrlein's kwalificaties zijn over het algemeen best goed maar vooral zijn starts en ronde 1.

  Inderdaad...zo kort is de lijst inmiddels niet meer... Ik hoorde uit betrouwbare bron dat ook een zekere 'Wibi' op de shortlist zou staan, maar die kan niet...verplichtingen elders volgens deze persoon... kan er meteen weer vanaf. :-)
