Manor-coureurs niet tevreden met kwalificatie

Beide auto's van Manor waren in tijd sneller dan de coureurs van Sauber, maar toch staat Sauber tussen Pascal Wehrlein en Esteban Ocon in. Ocon kreeg na de kwalificatie een gridpenalty vanwege het ophouden van Jolyon Palmer gedurende Q1. Bovendien zijn beide coureurs niet tevreden met hun kwalificatie.

Wehrlein reed een langzamere tijd dan teamgenoot Ocon, maar start door de gridstraf van laatstgenoemde dus voor hem. De Duitser is niet tevreden: "Aan de ene kant is het mooi om Sauber te verslaan, maar er zat zeker meer in. Dat is frustrerend. We zaten maar een paar tienden van Q2 af en je baalt dan als het niet lukt. Bovendien moest ik mijn laatste run afbreken vanwege de hoeveelheid verkeer in de laatste sector. Ik kijk uit naar een race in wisselende omstandigheden."

In de andere MRT05 kwam Ocon tot een snellere tijd dan teamgenoot Wehrlein, maar door de gridstraf schiet de Fransman daar niets mee op: "Ik ben niet blij met de kwalificatie. We waren sneller dan Sauber, maar voor mij maakt het niet uit aangezien ik toch achter ze start. Het is hoe het is en we moeten er het beste van zien te maken in de race."
