Perfecte uitgangspositie voor Force India om plek vier kampioenschap veilig te stellen

Force India-coureurs Nico Hülkenberg en Sergio Perez hebben zich een prima uitgangspositie verworven voor de race van morgen op het Yas Marina Circuit. Onder het kunstlicht reed Hülkenberg de zevende tijd, Perez kwam tot een achtste tijd. Force India is al bijna zeker van de vierde plek in het kampioenschap, rivaal Williams heeft een derde en vierde plaats nodig terwijl Force India zelf niet mag scoren.

Hülkenberg stapt morgen voor het laatst in de VMJ09. De Duitser stapt met ingang van 2017 over naar het fabrieksteam van Renault. Hülkenberg is tevreden met zijn kwalificatie: "Ik ben erg blij met mijn kwalificatie en de zevende plek is het maximaal haalbare voor ons. Ik ben blij met mijn ronde, zeker omdat ik wat tijd heb verloren op de baan dit weekend vanwege problemen en het feit dat Alfonso Celis Jr. mijn auto mocht gebruiken in de eerste training. Vooraf verwachtte ik een lastige sessie, maar het ging uiteindelijk allemaal goed. Hopelijk kan ik mijn tijd bij Force India morgen afsluiten met een mooi aantal punten."

Sergio Perez is tevreden met de prestatie van zijn team, maar niet over zijn eigen kunnen. De Mexicaan heeft het gevoel dat het beter had gekund: "In mijn laatste ronde had ik last van onderstuur. Ik probeerde dat te compenseren door andere lijnen te rijden, maar dat werkte niet echt. Met een perfecte ronde had ik een zevende tijd gereden, maar gelukkig staat daar ook een Force India. Ik kijk uit naar de race, een race waarin ik voor het laatst met mijn teamgenoot zal strijden. Ik wil het seizoen met een flink aantal punten afsluiten."

Normaal gesproken moet dit geen probleem zijn voor FI en kunnen ze een mooi seizoen afsluiten met het beste resultaat ooit en hopen dat de financieën in orde zijn voor volgend jaar.

FI heeft echt een topseizoen achter de rug. Het seizoen begon slecht zoals werd verwacht met de oude auto. Maar na de 2.0 upgrade in Hongarije hebben ze bijna elke race veel punten gepakt. Ik ben benieuwd of ze dit vol kunnen houden volgend jaar, maar dat verwacht ik eigenlijk niet, met aanstormende teams als Mclaren en Renault met hun budget.

Ik gun het FI .. met zo'n bescheiden budget 4e worden is echt helemaal top. Ook goede keuze altijd wat betreft coureurs!

"Hülkenberg stapt morgen voor het laatst in de VMJ09."

Volgens mij stapt Perez morgen ook voor het laatst voor een race in de VMJ09. Met die auto zullen ze immers volgend jaar niet meer rijden.
