Ocon: "Mijn doel is om elke race punten te scoren"

Esteban Ocon staat aan de vooravond van zijn eerste volledige seizoen in de Formule 1. De jonge Fransman maakte halverwege vorig jaar zijn debuut bij Manor en in de winter verkoos Force India hem boven Pascal Wehrlein om de naar Renault vertrokken Nico Hülkenberg te vervangen. Van de Europees kampioen Formule 3 van 2014 en GP3-kampioen van 2015 wordt veel verwacht.

Ocon weet dat zelf maar al te goed. "Ik zal er gelijk moeten staan, ik moet meteen presteren. Het team schonk mij het vertrouwen om Hülkenberg op te volgen en dat kan ik alleen met resultaten terugbetalen. Geen tijd om rustig op tempo te komen, ik dien gelijk op snelheid te zijn. Vandaar de gedegen voorbereiding deze winter. Resultaten zorgen voor meer inkomsten en dat kunnen we dan weer omzetten in een betere en snellere auto, zo simpel is het."

"Mijn persoonlijke doel is om elke race punten te scoren. Dat zou heel cool zijn. In Melbourne volgt de reality check, in Australië gaat iedereen voluit met de nieuwe machines en zullen we zien wat de pikorde is. Ik heb een super gevoel over de VJM10. De balans is goed en de Mercedes-motor is de beste krachtbron van het veld, ook wat betreft betrouwbaarheid. Hopelijk laat mijn gevoel me niet in de steek."

      force india heeft gewoon al deze ideen doorgevoerd om dit jaar één grote grap te maken (hoewel dat met mclaren honda ook een bak is)

    Ik heb hoge verwachtingen van Ocon, echt een groot talent. Als hij Perez weet te verslaan is hij gelijk kandidaat voor een topteam, en zal hij misschien wel een kans krijgen om voor Mercedes te rijden in de toekomst.

      Ik heb hem ook hoog zitten. En met Leclerc op komst komen er mooie tijden aan voor Frankrijk, ik schat beide net wat hoger in dan Grosjean (wat ik zeker een goed coureur vind!).

      De Haas coureur is een ZWSITSER ! Hoe vaak moet ik dat nog zeggen.? En Ocon kan best in iedere race een puntje scoren al de auto hem niet in de steek laat. Tegen Perez heeft hij waarschijnlijk geen schijn van kans...

      @Wibi,

      Romain Grosjean is een Zwitsers autocoureur, maar rijdt onder de vlag van Frankrijk. Dus als hij actief is in de F1 heeft de Zwitser een FRANS vlaggetje achter zijn naam staan. En aan zijn dialect te horen is het inderdaad echt een ras Zwitser.. NOT! Zwitser is eigenlijk Zwatser, maar dat slaat dan weer op Wibi.. :)

      @Wibi, hij rijdt met de Franse vlag en daardoor is hij voor mij een fransman, met of zonder jouw (of de wettelijke) goedkeuring ;-).
      Betreft Perez vind ik het lastig voorspellen, draait Perez net zo'n seizoen als vorig jaar dan zal hij Ocon verslaan. Maar Perez kan soms ook wat wispelturig zijn in zijn acties en prestaties. Ocon is snel en zeer consistent, en daar kan hij het verschil maken. Dat zag je ook terug in de tests waar je niks geks zag van hem en hij veel rondjes reed.
      Zijn kunnen alleen baseren op DTM periode is niet eerlijk (geheel andere tak van autosport) en dat hij in de F3, ondanks zijn titel, overschaduwd werd door Max doet weinig af aan zijn talent.

    lekker fanatiek baasje , goed hoor... Hele hoop mensen vinden sainz zo,n groot talent, ik heb het eerlijk gezegd nog steeds niet gezien,,,,Maar dan zet ik mn geld wel op Ocon, je zag het in Brazilië al, hij was de enige die Max nog een beetje weerstand bood....
