Ocon: "Fouten komen ons nu duurder te staan"

Force India-coureur Esteban Ocon houdt voor komend seizoen rekening met meer zware crashes in de Formule 1. Stuurfouten zullen dit jaar door de komst van snellere auto's grotere gevolgen hebben voor de rijders. Ocon: "Er zullen niet meer fouten gemaakt worden, maar ze zullen ons wel duurder komen te staan."

Hij vervolgt: "Het wordt lastiger om de auto op te vangen als je de controle eenmaal kwijt begint te raken. Omdat de bochtensnelheden zoveel hoger liggen, geldt dat ook voor de limiet. De bredere banden maken het ook lastiger. In de tests zag je al coureurs die zich daarin verslikten. En fysiek is het natuurlijk zwaarder."

De Force India VJM10 kreeg voor dit seizoen een roze kleur. Dat is de consequentie van de samenwerking met sponsor BWT. De helm van Ocon is nu ook roze, zoals ook zijn overall roze details kreeg. "Ik wist al even dat de wagen roze zou worden. Je ziet het niet vaak, hè? Maar het levert ons geld op en daardoor zal de auto alleen maar sneller gaan."

    Ik denk dat Ocon wel een goed puntje aanhaalt m.b.t. die crashes en dat is ook precies de reden dat ik het niet verantwoord vind om iemand als Stroll los te laten tussen al die andere mannen, met name bij de start. We zullen zien. Meer snelheid betekent inderdaad een grotere boem.

      Die jongen kan echt wel wat! En risico blijft er altijd in de F1. En al een stuk minder dan vroeger, zonder alle veiligheidsmaatregelen die er nu zijn. Taki Inoue was waarschijnlijk minder getalenteerd dan Stroll. Ook dat is goed gegaan, als de jongen echt blijkt tegen te vallen rijdt ie een jaartje als mobiele chicane rond en is daarna voorgoed exit.

      Compleet afkraken wachten we nog even mee, we beginnen eerst met kritiek en bouwen het langzaam op.

    Ik geloof hem wel in deze. Met name naar het einde van de race toe, wanneer de vermoeidheid ook mee gaat spelen, kunnen zich vervelende situaties voordoen.

      Ondanks dat het wat zwaarder gaat worden voor de coureur denk ik dat het wel mee valt. Bij het testen reden sommige 2 race afstanden op 1 dag. Het zal niet zo worden als in de jaren 90 waar er nog geen stuurbekrachtiging was en de auto's ook snel waren en de coureurs nat van zweet en helemaal uitgeput uit de auto kwamen.

      MV, bij het testen 2x de race afstand bij testen is toch heel wat anders dan 1x volledig op de limiet tijdens een race.

      de enige plek waar echt op de limiet word gereden is in Q1, Q2 en Q3 die ronde tijden liggen soms 6seconden lager dan de snelste race ronde.

      ze zouden de regels zo moeten maken dat je geen maximaal brandstof verbruik van 100Kg/h mag hebben maar een minimale van 120 kg/H dan moet je pushen omdat te halen hehehe dan krijg je pas spektakel. weg met het groene gedoe

    Daar dacht ik ook al aan, dat als het mis gaat het ook 'goed' mis gaat met de nieuwe snel-heden in de bocht. Over veiligheid hoor je ze niet als het om het vergroten van het specta-kel gaat. Vreemd eigenlijk. Goed dat Ocon het aankaart.
