Haas mogelijk niet meer in actie met T-wing in Melbourne

Het Formule 1-team van Haas mag dit weekend mogelijk niet meer rijden met de zogenaamde T-wing op de auto. De Amerikaanse renstal stuurde de auto's in de tweede vrije training al zonder het onderdeel de baan op, omdat het in de eerste vrije training veel te veel bewoog. Teambaas Gunther Steiner weet niet of Haas het onderdeel de rest van het weekend nog mag gebruiken.

Steiner laat in een korte verklaring weten niet te begrijpen waarom het onderdeel zoveel bewoog, aangezien er in Barcelona geen problemen mee waren geweest: "We hebben de T-wing in Barcelona uitgebreid getest en daar kenden we geen problemen. In de tweede vrije training mochten we op last van de FIA niet meer mee rijden, we moeten kijken of we de situatie kunnen verbeteren voor de derde training."

Steiner laat verder weten dat de T-wing zorgt voor meer neerwaartse druk, zo blijkt uit de verzamelde data van Haas: "Op de data zien we dat we meer neerwaartse druk hebben met het onderdeel op de auto. Het werkt dus, we willen het graag weer gebruiken. Uiteraard hebben we dan wel toestemming nodig van de FIA."

Ondanks het ontbreken van de T-wing stuurde Romain Grosjean de Haas VF-17 keurig de top tien in tijdens de tweede vrije training. Teamgenoot Kevin Magnussen kende minder geluk, de Deen stond het grootste deel van de tweede vrije training binnen vanwege een waterlek.

  @playfast321: Dat vind ik wat kort door de bocht. Hij heeft daar zijn straf voor gehad en heeft zich sindsdien aardig herpakt. Ben geen fan van de man maar racen kan ie wel.
