Charlie Whiting zal starten naast de gridslot vanaf nu bestraffen

Sebastian Vettel parkeerde zijn auto vorige week in China opzettelijk naast zijn startplek, omdat hij dacht nadeel te hebben van de natte omstandigheden als hij startte vanuit zijn gridslot. Tijdens de drivers' briefing voor de Grand Prix van Bahrein kwam hem dat op flinke kritiek te staan van ervaren coureurs als Fernando Alonso en Felipe Massa. De FIA bestrafte de actie van de Duitser echter niet, tot groot ongenoegen bij de andere coureurs.

Charlie Whiting heeft na de drivers' briefing gehoor gegeven aan de wensen van de coureurs en heeft aangegeven dat vanaf nu een straf zal volgen wanneer er naast de gridslot gestart wordt, zo meldde Sergio Perez aan Motorsport.com: "Charlie heeft nu aangegeven dat als Vettel of iemand anders dit nog eens doet, hij er niet mee weg zal komen." Zo is de onduidelijkheid over de regels hieromtrent in ieder geval weggenomen.

      Dat had inderdaad niet heel raar geweest. Het was overduidelijk en uiteraard kan je dit niet toestaan anders wordt het een circus.

      Charlie Whiting, de racedirecteur van de FIA, deelde aan de coureurs mee dat de regels voor de start al twintig jaar dezelfde zijn en dat er in al die tijd maar twee extreme gevallen zijn geweest van een coureur die zijn wagen extreem ver naar links of naar links parkeerde op de startopstelling: vorig jaar in Japan met Daniel Ricciardo en afgelopen zondag in China met Sebastian Vettel.

      Helaas zijn er geen regels die zo'n startopstelling verbieden; reden waarom Vettel niet is bestraft.

      Je mocht tot dit weekend tot maximaal een meter uit het midden staan. Vettel was daar nog lang niet aan. Dus dat mocht.

    Ik kon mij nog een race herinneren van een paar jaar terug dat Massa (als ik het goed heb) een halve auto over de gele streep had geparkeerd. Weet niet of die nog bestraft werd?

      Halve auto over de gele lijn is automatisch straf omdat de auto dan te ver naar voren staat. Dit ging over zijdelings buiten het vak staan.

    Ik vind dat je in de gridslot moet staan, het is het zelfde als de auto niet fatsoenlijk in het parkeervak zetten. Alleen zijn de regels duidelijk mbt het parkeervak en die van de gridslot niet, dus Vettel is gewoon slim geweest en heeft de regel in zijn voordeel doen gelden. Dat men nu er zo over zit te klagen over Vettel is onzin, het is de Fia die de regels niet duidelijk maakt. Dus men kan wel Vettel hierop aanvallen, maar dat slaat nergens op.

    Gelukkig maar, anders wordt een gigantisch rommeltje.... Maar wat voor een straf krijgt men dan??? Extra opwarmronde en de personen die buiten de gridstlot stonden uit de pitstraat laten starten???
