Geen Force India in de top tien na kwalificatie Bahrein

Voor de mannen van Force India zal het even slikken zijn geweest na de kwalificatie: zowel Esteban Ocon als Sergio Perez starten de race buiten de top tien. In de tweede seizoenshelft van vorig jaar was Force India steevast een klant voor de top tien. Bahrein is een circuit dat de Force India's normaliter goed ligt, maar dit jaar zat het er niet in. Esteban Ocon start de race als veertiende, terwijl Sergio Perez de race slechts als achttiende zal aanvangen.

Esteban Ocon: onvoldoende snelheid om Q3 te halen

Esteban Ocon was in de kwalificatie sneller dan zijn Mexicaanse teamgenoot Sergio Perez, maar de Fransman kwam niet verder dan een veertiende startplaats. De Fransman vat zijn kwalificatie als volgt samen: "De sessie verliep zonder grote problemen, al had ik wel een klein probleem met de DRS in Q1. Ik ben niet blij met mijn startpositie, we willen verder naar voren staan. We hebben geen gekke dingen gedaan, maar we waren niet snel genoeg voor de top tien. Het raamwerk van de banden is erg smal en dat hebben we in de kwalificatie gezien. Punten zijn echter nog steeds haalbaar, al is het van groot belang om de banden ook lang goed te houden. Gelukkig kun je hier inhalen, dat biedt kansen voor de race."

Sergio Perez heeft pech met gele vlaggen

In de andere VMJ10 kwam de ervaren Sergio Perez niet verder dan de achttiende startplaats. De Mexicaan had naar eigen zeggen pech met een gele vlag-moment en dat zorgde ervoor dat hij zijn laatste run moest afbreken: "De gele vlaggen kwamen voor mij op een zeer ongunstig moment. Ik moest mijn laatste snelle ronde afbreken en daarmee zat mijn kwalificatie er ook meteen op. Het is jammer, omdat de auto snel genoeg was om hoger op de grid te komen. Ik heb een goed gevoel voor de race, de auto voelde goed aan in de kwalificatie. Het wordt een zware race, maar ik denk dat we voor een goed resultaat kunnen gaan."

  Ocon, Vandoorne ... het zouden DE supertalenten zijn. Deze jongens gingen op hun fiets de race nog winnen. Misschien ligt het aan mij, maar nog los van de prestaties ben ik totaal niet onder de indruk van deze jongena. Wat dat betreft vind ik Wehrlein het bij vlagen leuk doen, Gio die ondanks de brokken wel liet zien het te kunnen.
  
  Laat eert maar eens zien wat en waarom je zoveel beter bent dan de rest, en al doe je dat in gevecht om P18...so be it, maar kleurloos treintje rijden dat kan iedere willekeurige coureur.

Tja, met 4 renaults in de top 10 en daarnaast de 2 ferrari's en mercedesen blijven er nog maar 2 plekjes over. En om die 2 plekken zal hard gevochten moeten worden.

  Njah, die laatste Renault in de top 10 moet daar ook voor vechten hoor. Top 10 is zo simpel niet als je 1.2 seconde tekort komt op je teamgenoot.

  Palmer wel idd, maar ik denk dat we de hulk veel vaker in de top 10 kunnen verwachten. Dus hooguit 3 plekken over in de top 10 waar om gestreden kan worden.
