Sergio Perez op weg naar record: 14 races op rij in de punten

Force India-coureur Sergio Perez heeft zin in de Grand Prix van Rusland. Logisch ook als je als enige coureur al 13 races achter elkaar in de punten weet te rijden. Hij heeft goede herinneringen aan Sochi, in 2015 behaalde hij daar zijn tweede podiumplek voor het team (3e plaats) waarna er in 2016 nog twee zouden volgen.

Perez: "Ik zei al dat ik na Bahrein enorm trots op mijn team was. We gaven niet op en moesten diep gaan voor een goed resultaat. Nadat wij op plek 18 kwalificeerden dacht ik dat het moeilijk zou zijn om in de punten te eindigen, maar we leverden de perfecte race af. Dat is de kracht van dit team."

Bocht 3 is erg leuk

Over Rusland heeft hij duidelijk een andere mening dan Haas F1-collega Romain Grosjean. De Fransman vond bocht 3 niet bepaald het leukste onderdeel van het circuit. "Ik heb goede herinneringen aan Sochi en ons podium in 2015 bewijst dat alles mogelijk is", zo zegt de Mexicaan. "Ik denk dat iedere rijder bocht 3 erg leuk vindt omdat het een ongebruikelijk bocht is die veel energie door de wagen heen stuurt. De rest van het circuit heeft veel weg van een straten circuit", aldus Perez die daar dus buiten Grosjean rekende.

Kwalificatie erg belangrijk

De kwalificatie wordt weer erg belangrijk volgens Perez die al 14 WK-punten verdiende dit seizoen: "Inhalen is nooit echt eenvoudig geweest dus er is extra druk om tijdens de kwalificatie zo hoog mogelijk op de grid te staan."

Vorig jaar eindigde Perez in de punten voor Force India, maar moest zijn teamgenoot Nico Hülkenberg na een crash in de eerste ronde al afhaken.

  Yes plz... Die gast heeft zich na dat McLaren debacle goed herpakt en is uitgegroeid tot 1 van de betere coureurs van de f1, heeft afgelopen jaren Hulkenberg die te boek stond als groot talent ruimschoots verslagen, en zal dat ook dit jaar doen met zijn teamgenoot. M.i. heeft hij een Ferrari zitje meer dan verdiend.

  @Jean dat hij dit jaar Ocon verslaat is makkelijk te voorspellen met al zijn ervaring, ik verwacht dat Ocon ook zeker het talent heeft om in de toekomst minimaal het nivo van Perez te behalen.
