Daniil Kvyat over thuisrace: "Eenmaal op het circuit is het een gewone race"

Daniil Kvyat zat logischerwijs achter de tafel bij de persconferentie aangezien de Grand Prix van Rusland zijn thuisrace is. Naast zijn verjaardag betekende dat veel extra werkzaamheden, maar dat vindt hij helemaal geen probleem.

Focussen op prestaties

Kvyat: "Je hebt meer te doen tijdens een thuisrace, maar het is echt een voorrecht om een thuisrace te mogen hebben. De afgelopen dagen waren erg leuk en ik had veel leuke mensen om mij heen. Ik ben zelfs wezen curlen, dus heb er weer een nieuwe sport bijgeleerd." Maar als het donderdag is dan is het een race als alle anderen: "Het is voor mij het vierde jaar dat ik hier rij en eenmaal op het circuit is het een weekend als alle andere. Je volgt het schema van trainingen, kwalificatie en race en dan maakt het weinig uit of het je thuisrace is of niet. Je moet je vooral focussen op je prestaties op dat moment", aldus de Toro Rosso-rijder.

Daniil Kvyat wil niet achterom kijken

Hij geeft aan blij te zijn met zijn wagen: "Hij presteert heel constant tijdens de races dit jaar en het verschil tussen teams nummer 4 en 7 zijn erg klein. Kleine veranderingen kunnen dus een redelijk verschil maken."

Een Russische verslaggever met humor vraagt of hij terug mag naar Red Bull als Max Verstappen Sebastian Vettel van de baan afrijdt, refererend aan het ongeval in Sochi vorig jaar dat hem zijn stoeltje bij Red Bull Racing kostte. Maar terugkijken op afgelopen jaar wil hij niet: "Ik kijk alleen maar vooruit."

Ook bij mij heeft Kvyat een wat hogere gunfactor @Boer Gijs, maar dan vooral omdat Daniil voor wat meer actie op de baan zorgt.
Hij is meer een racer dan Carlos. Maar uiteindelijk telt uiteraard ook het rendement mee.

Ik gun die rus succes. Hij zit niet voor niks bij de redbullclub. Hoop dat hij z,n teammaatje dit jaar voorbijstreeft.
