Max Verstappen: "Meer races niet per se goed idee"

Volgend jaar staan er net als in 2016 weer 21 races op de Formule 1-kalender, maar als het aan Liberty Media ligt wordt de kalender in de toekomst uitgebreid naar 25 of 26 races. Meerdere coureurs trekken het plan in twijfel en ook Red Bull-coureur Max Verstappen ziet het niet per se als goed idee.

"Het is nu al behoorlijk druk en met nog meer races heb je helemaal geen leven meer buiten Formule 1. Daar zijn wel oplossingen voor te verzinnen, maar ik weet niet of het voor de monteurs gunstig is. Zij zijn al heel weinig thuis en de mensen met een gezin zullen het niet trekken", aldus Verstappen.

McLaren-coureur Fernando Alonso liet eerder al weten te zullen stoppen op het moment dat de kalender nog meer races gaat bevatten.

      Haha. Ik ben het ook oneens met Max. Als je voor een F1 team werkt moet je ook geen gezin willen want je ziet ze toch bijna nooit dan. If you can't stand the heat then leave the kitchen.

      @Darlos ik denk dat je je dan eens moet verdiepen in alle nevenactiviteiten. De race opzich is niet het probleem. Maar alle bijkomende verplichtingen maken het te veel. En wees eerlijk, we hebben niks aan coureurs en teams die overwerkt raken.

      En precies welke monteur of teamlid wordt gedwongen om dat werk te doen? Beavlt het ze niet, staat het ze vrij om een andere baan te zoeken. Met F1 op je cv vind je vast wel iets

    als ze niet van hot naar her worden gestuurd maar de races beetje goed plannen moet dat kunnen .
    en er zijn wel meer mensen die soms maanden van huis zijn voor hun werk niet zeuren dus door werken

    Als een 10 - 15 auto's kunnen meedoen voor het podium zou het wel leuk zijn. Voor nu heeft dat geen zin, je weet al voor 99% zeker wat de top 6 zal zijn.

      Meer races gaat ten koste van de betekenis van de individuele races. 18 vind ik prima en meer dan 20 is erg veel. Liever minder races maar dan wel op de juiste circuits.

      Ok dat argument van die monteurs ben ik het persoonlijk niet mee eens, zoek daar een oplossing voor. Maar goed. Maar dit argument (het gaat ten koste van de betekenis? Really?) gaat echt helemaal nergens over.
      Kom maar door met die 25 races, ik kijk ze allemaal. En als ze allemaal meetellen hebben ze allemaal betekenis.
