Aanrijding tussen Force India-coureurs zonder gevolgen

De botsing tussen Force India-teamgenoten Esteban Ocon en Sergio Perez in de Azerbeidzjaanse Grand Prix blijft voorlopig zonder gevolgen. Dat heeft teambaas Vijay Mallya bekendgemaakt in de aanloop naar de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk. Het voorval is intern besproken, maar Ocon en Perez mogen elkaar ook op de Red Bull Ring gewoon vrij bekampen.

Mallya: "Ik kan me geen Grand Prix herinneren die zoveel gespreksstof opleverde als de race in Bakoe. Wij speelden daar zelf ook een rol in en het is nog altijd frustrerend als we denken aan wat mogelijk was in deze dramatische wedstrijd. Na Azerbeidzjan hebben we intern wat gesprekken gevoerd en onze rijders op het hart gedrukt dat het team altijd op de eerste plaats komt."

"Het is nooit acceptabel dat teamgenoot elkaar raken en in Bakoe kostte het ons veel punten. Desalniettemin veranderen die gebeurtenissen onze benadering niet. Onze coureurs mogen vrij blijven racen en ik weet zeker dat ze hun lesje wel geleerd hebben. We hebben hen een competitieve auto gegeven en ze zijn volwassen genoeg om samen te werken in het belang van het team."

"In Oostenrijk krijgen we een nieuwe kans om de snelheid van de VJM10 tentoon te spreiden en onze serie puntenfinishes te vervolgen. We moeten ons momentum vast zien te houden en we moeten constant punten scoren om onze vierde plek in het kampioenschap veilig te stellen. Er is geen ruimte voor gemakzucht, we blijven pushen om elke race te maximaliseren."

al twee races achter elkaar heeft hun egoïstische optreden Force India tientallen punten gekost, en ware ramp voor deze kleine renstal. Ben benieuwd hoe dit verder gaat.

  Hoop dat het de rest van het seizoen nog flink uit de hand loopt maar wel zo dat ze elkaar met het mes tussen de tanden maar toch ook sportief bestrijden, dat we volgend seizoen dan weer van meer van hetzelfde kunnen genieten.
