Esteban Ocon: "Alles is uitgesproken, het zal niet meer gebeuren"

Esteban Ocon heeft laten weten het hele gebeuren rond de crash met teamgenoot Sergio Perez achter zich te laten. De zaak tussen de rijders is samen met het team uitgesproken en nu kan men weer vooruit kijken.

De Grand Prix van Azerbeidzjan zorgt nog steeds voor veel gesprekstof. Het grootste deel gaat over de clash tussen Lewis Hamilton en Sebastian Vettel, maar ook bij Force India was het raak. Nadat Perez in Canada het verzoek van het team om de snellere Ocon te laten passeren naast zich neerlegde was het in Bakoe een onderlinge crash die het team veel punten kostte.

Op Franceinfo Radio zegt Ocon: "Ik wil niet reageren op de uitspraken van Perez, behalve dat het nooit goed is als teamgenoten elkaar raken. Het is nu zaak om ons op de toekomst te richten en niet meer achterom te kijken. Wij hebben alles uitgesproken en het zal ook niet meer gebeuren."

De twee rijders waren het niet eens over de oorzaak van de crash en Ocon postte een video daarvan op Twitter (hieronder te zien). "Dat deed ik omdat op televisie alleen de kant van Perez te zien was. Ik wilde iedereen laten zien wat er gebeurde", aldus de Fransman. Hij vervolgt: "Ik heb met Sergio het incident besproken en het ligt nu achter ons. Wij zijn professionals, geen amateurs die er over blijven zeuren."

Ja, je ziet hier duidelijk dat Perez toch ook wel een beetje een lompe 'beuk' uitdeelt na het uitkomen van de bocht. Het is dat Ocon uitwijkt zodat ze elkaar niet raken. Wat Ocon daarna doet is in mijn ogen een beetje payback wat dan net níet goed afloopt.

We zullen zien, voorlopig rijden ze al bijna heel het seizoen bij elkaar in de buurt en met de races die nog moeten komen is het niet ondenkbaar dat ze het nogmaals met elkaar aan de stok krijgen.

Vanuit zijn cockpit moet ik toegeven dat hij iets minder schuldig lijkt in tegenstelling tot de andere beelden. Dat wil zeggen: ik kan me iets meer inleven, maar geef hem niet per definitie gelijk ;)
