Romain Grosjean wist niet dat teamgenoot uitgevallen was

Waar Romain Grosjean de laatste weken niet al te best voor de dag kwam, vooral door de volgens hem niet functionerende remmen van de Haas-bolide, beleefde de Fransman in Oostenrijk een probleemloos weekend. In de kwalificatie eindigde hij als zevende en Grosjean mocht door de gridstraf van Lewis Hamilton, als zesde van start gaan en nadat hij na de start even aan P3 mocht ruiken, finishte hij na een strakke race als zesde en wist zo de Force India's knap op achterstand te houden.

"Het was een geweldige race, de eerste ronden waren fantastisch voor mij. Ik kon net als in 2013 met de auto's voor mij vechten en wist zelfs enkele posities te winnen na de start. Natuurlijk kon ik met geen mogelijkheid Lewis en Kimi achter me houden, maar ik had een mooi gevecht met Perez, die redelijk snel was en flink was aan het pushen," sprak Grosjean na de race. "De auto voelde goed en je ziet als wij de juiste downforce en drag weten te vinden dat we erg snel zijn."

"Ik was niet bang over de betrouwbaarheid van mijn auto, want ik wist ook niet dat Kevin uitgevallen was. Ik wist wel dat we gisteren problemen met de ophanging hadden dus ik bleef zo ver mogelijk weg bij de kerbs. Tijdens de vrije trainingen verloren we ook al onderdelen, dus we hebben wat dat betreft de risico's beperkt. Op de kerbs voel je wel vibratie in de auto, maar je kunt erover heen rijden, alleen heb je grote kans dat de auto stuk gaat. Ik weet echter niet wat met Kevin gebeurd is vandaag."

Heel sterk weekend van Grosjean. Maar die nieuwe Ferrari update (die Ferrari zelf nog in wil gaan zetten) lijkt top! Hoeveel denkt Mr. Monza dat Ferrari zelf gaat winnen qua aantal tienden met deze update?

  Magnussen kwam alleen sterker op mij over dit weekend. Maar daar koop je idd niks voor.

  @Erwin, dat kunnen we nooit weten. Trainingen zeggen me helemaal niets. Grosjean was in kwali en race toch best wel maximaal, maar ik denk dat Magnussen daar zeker in de buurt had gezeten.

  Sommige zeggen ook dat MAG niks te zoeken heeft in de F1 maar ik vind dat nog allemaal wel reuze meevallen dit seizoen. Hij is toch wel aardig bezig.

  Magnussen is best oke maar ook niet super. In ieder geval een klap beter dan die verschrikkelijke Gutierrez, maar echt niet goed genoeg voor een topteam.
  
  Magnussen is op een goede dag erg snel, maar over een heel seizoen erg wisselvallig, en datzelfde geldt ook een beetje voor Grosjean. Prima rijders voor een leuke middenmoter als Haas, maar onvoldoende voor een groot fabrieksteam.

  Ik vind Magnussen een prima coureur, al dat populistische geleuter over dat ie niks in F1 te zoeken heeft, Ericson en Palmer hebben niks in F1 te zoeken, Grosjean vind ik daar in tevens een mindere coureur dan Magnussen al kan dat beeldvorming zijn door dat boordradio gezeur.
  
  Verder las ik op een Duitse site iets over 10/15 pk winst in kwalificatie, en dat Mercedes ook een motorupgrade zou brengen. Maar mijn Duits is zeer matig

  Wat ik lees is dat het qua pk een toename van ong. 15 pk is, hoe zich dat vertaald in tienden verschilt denk ik per circuit.
  Hoe het verder zit met efficiëntie, en hoe de motor zich verhoudt tot het hele pakket, daar kan ik geen zinnig woord over zeggen, op Silverstone weten we meer.

Als het een beetje mee zit dan zie je Grosjean dat ook gelijk vertalen naar mooie prestaties. Ik denk dat hij nog steeds door velen onderschat wordt maar hij kan het echt flikken, lijkt. Magnussen doet het ook niet slecht maar wel iets minder dan Grosjean en is nog steeds in one-day-fly mode: ene keer heel goed en daarna even onzichtbaar. Moet wel wat constanter worden qua (goede) prestaties.
