Lando Norris uiterlijk in 2020 rijp voor de Formule 1

Lando Norris doet alles stap voor stap op weg naar de koningsklasse van de autosport. De 17-jarige Brit geldt als een ontzettend groot talent en die status bewees hij vorige week bij zijn testdebuut in de Formule 1 voor McLaren. Op de Hungaroring liet hij op de tweede dag van de in-season test aldaar de tweede tijd noteren.

Die prestatie heeft sommige experts en fans ertoe verleidt om erop aan te dringen dat McLaren hem vervroegd doorschuift richting de Formule 1. Zelf heeft Norris helemaal geen behoefte aan zo'n verkort traject. Hij focust zich voor dit jaar op de titel in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3 en voor 2018 op een vervolg in de Formule 2 of in de Super Formula.

Na twee jaar in de Formule 2 of één seizoen in beide klasses moet hij uiterlijk in 2020 rijp zijn voor de stap naar de Formule 1. "Ik hoop binnen twee of drie jaar de Formule 1 te bereiken, dat is mijn ultieme doel. Veel zal ervan afhangen of ik dit jaar de titel win in het Europees kampioenschap Formule 3. Daarna ga ik naar de Formule 2 of naar de Super Formula, zoals Stoffel Vandoorne ook deed. Het maakt mij niet zoveel uit waar ik race, als ik maar veel kan leren en goede resultaten kan behalen", aldus Norris

Bij McLaren zijn de verwachtingen in ieder geval hooggespannen. Directeur Zak Brown ziet in hem een toekomstig wereldkampioen, terwijl teambaas Eric Boullier de jonge Brit als een van de sterren van de toekomst omschreef. Het verwachtingspatroon rondom Norris is dus alleen maar toegenomen door zijn goede optreden in Hongarije, maar zelf bewaart hij de rust.

  @ Rimmer. Of dat zo is wat '' jij '' er van vindt? Lando Norris zou wel de Bruce MC Laren kunnen gaan heten van deze eeuw, de gelijkenis tussen deze twee courreus als twee druppels water als het om karakter gaat.

Bizar eigenlijk hoe jong Max was, Norris is ''al'' 20 als hij rijp is zeggen ze.

  Auto's waren op dat moment ook zo traag. Eigenlijk was het als je al ooit een 16/17 jarige in je auto wilt stoppen het perfecte moment.

  Norris is gewoon terughoudend en bescheiden door een normaal traject uit te stippelen voor zichzelf. Alles wat eerder komt is mooi meegenomen, want uiteraard stapt hij het liefst de volgende race al in. ;)

  idd zoals Alonsosf zegt, er zit precies ook verstand in de vergelijking met Lewis kan dan ook meteen naar de prullenbak!
  
  Toch wel onder indruk van deze jonge knaap, vond wel dat Max al iets verder stond in zen eerste jaar F3. Ik bemerk toch behoorlijk wat omstuimig gedrag van Lando wat eigenlijk ook normaal is de métier zit er nog niet volledig in groeien is idd de boodschap.
