Ocon: "Perez en ik zijn allebei over de schreef gegaan"

Het verwachte vuurwerk bleef uit tijdens de persconferentie voor de Grand Prix van Italië. De internationale autosportbond FIA had Force India-kemphanen Esteban Ocon en Sergio Perez bij elkaar geplaatst. Ferrari-rijder Sebastian Vettel zat tussen de twee in om de vrede te bewaren, maar dat bleek niet nodig. De Force India-coureurs kijken vooruit.

Ocon: "Sergio en ik hebben vanochtend met elkaar gesproken, één-op-één zonder anderen daarbij aanwezig. Het is zaak dat we dit afsluiten en tijd dat we het vergeten. We zijn allebei over de schreef gegaan, laten we het daar op houden. We hebben elkaar geraakt en dat mag niet gebeuren. Het is belangrijk dat we in de toekomst meer in het belang van het team gaan denken. We moeten het vertrouwen van onze bazen weer voor ons winnen, misschien geven ze ons dan straks weer de vrijheid om tegen elkaar te racen."

Perez sloot zich daarbij aan. "Esteban en ik hebben het niet meer over de details gehad, daar verschillen we toch van mening over. Iedereen vindt het nodige over ons, maar wij moeten vooruit. We kunnen het ons niet veroorloven om meer punten voor het team te verspelen. Ik wil mijn best doen in de auto en voor het team waar ik zit. De samenwerking met Ocon kan nog succesvol zijn."

    Het draait toch om details wanneer je het niet met elkaar eens bent?
    En dan er niet over praten?
    Waarschijnlijk vechten ze het wel op de baan uit. :)

      Ik zat net te denken, grote kans dat Force India redelijk ver naar voren staat op Monza (de Red Bulls starten wellicht achteraan). Gaan ze elkaar dan ruimte geven als ze in een dikke puntenpositie liggen? Ik moet het nog maar zien. Sowieso zijn PER/OCO qua snelheid aan elkaar gewaagd en zullen ze elkaar vaak tegen blijven komen.

      t is net als met kleine kinderen, soms moet je ze gewoon beide bij de oren pakken en geen partij kiezen, ook al is de 1 meer fout dan de ander. Ik denk dat FI dat in dit geval heel duidelijk heeft gedaan en dat dat ook bij de coureurs is binnengekomen. Ben alleen bang dat het na de start zondag weer snel is vergeten.

      Moeten ze Magnussen en Hülkenberg samen uitnodigen, dan krijg je misschien minder politiek correcte antwoorden. Ik vond die 'Suck my balls, honey' opmerking weliswaar grof, maar ik moest er ook wel om lachen dat Kevin dat toch maar mooi even zei. Eindelijk eens lekker spontaan en niet voorgekauwd.
