Ocon bevestigt dat hij ook in 2018 voor Force India rijdt

Force India heeft de line-up voor volgend seizoen rond. Zondag kondigde de Indiase renstal aan dat het contract met Sergio Perez is verlengd en Esteban Ocon lag al voor langere tijd vast. De Fransman bevestigt voor zover dat nog niet duidelijkheid zelf nog even dat hij ook in 2018 voor Force India zal uitkomen. Ocon vormt officieel volgend jaar weer een duo met Perez.

      Alleen afgelopen zondag had hij een mindere dag. Ik hoop dat hij zich komende race weer herpakt. Ik vind het een goede coureur en gun hem succes.

      @William-E: Nou ja, hij (Ocon red) staat in het Quali-duel met Perez een beetje achter (11-3) en als hij niet met Perez in de clinch gaat, rijdt hij hem ook in de wedstrijd niet snel voorbij. Zo goed is hij dus niet. Dit seizoen eindigde Perez 9 keer voor Ocon en omgekeerd eindigde Ocon pas 4 keer voor Perez, waarbij dat twee keer na een onderlinge crash kwam. Ook afgelopen weekend weer niet. 5! plaatsen achter Perez. Ocon heeft (en heeft dat altijd gehad) een grote mond naast de baan, maar is toch niet dat supertalent. Hij kon ook in de F3 alleen door uitval van Max op cruciale momenten, en door superieur materiaal, Max in de eindstand verslaan. In de carts lag hij vrijwel altijd achter Max. Zodra het op echt rijden aankwam verloor hij het echter keer op keer ook in de F3! Als iemand daar anders over denkt is ook prima, maar de cijfers spreken hier denk ik toch voor zich.

      @Stitch, je moet voor de gein even de start van Singapore terug kijken. Perez heeft 'ahum' heel handig gebruik gemaakt van de melee rondom de eerste 3. Compleet gemist door vrijwel iedereen inclusief de racedirectie.
      Dat hij geen penalty heeft gehad is me echt een raadsel.

      Het Ferrari duo zorgde voor veel actie afgelopen weekend, heel lekker als je begin dit jaar geld hebt ingezet op kampioenschap voor Hamilton:p

      Maar wat zag die FI eruit in het begin van het jaar... Wat een misbaksel was dat zeg :'). Maar na de make-over oogt het al een stuk prettiger. Ocon is imo goed bezig en stelt zich op als een pro, ook na de Spa incidenten.
      Deze jongen zou het lang kunnen volhouden in dit wereldje.

    Prima. Toch verreweg het beste duo van het middenveld. En dat van een team waarvan ieder jaar gezegd wordt dat ze failliet gaan!

    Hij kan er beter voor zorgen op de baan de resultaten te laten spreken dan ernaast. In Singapore had hij geen schijn van kans tegen Perez en ook de Quali-stand spreekt niet in zijn voordeel. Hij zal zich moeten verbeteren volgend jaar om nog kans te maken op een top stoeltje. Anders gaat hij anoniem ten onder.

    Dan is Wehrlein toch wel exit nu onderhand, ik verwacht niet dat Williams voor hem kiest of het moet financieel interessant zijn door korting van Mercedes.
