Gene Haas ontevreden over gemiste kansen Haas F1

Haas F1 Team is bezig aan een keurig tweede seizoen in de Formule 1. De Amerikaanse renstal heeft met nog zes races te gaan al meer punten gescoord dan tijdens het debuutjaar. Toch is teameigenaar Gene Haas niet tevreden. Hij vindt dat Haas F1 Team er veel beter voor had kunnen staan. De renstal heeft te veel kansen om punten te pakken verkwanseld dit seizoen.

Gene Haas deelde aan de NY Times mede: "Ik ben van mening dat we al meer afstand hadden moeten nemen van ons puntentotaal van vorig jaar, we hadden het beter moeten doen. Bijvoorbeeld in de Grand Prix van Azerbeidzjan, daar hadden we gezien alle problemen bij de topteams met beide wagens in de top tien moeten eindigen. Dat was een mogelijkheid."

"In Oostenrijk waren we ook heel snel. Romain Grosjean finishte wel als zesde, maar door een hydraulisch probleem bij de auto van Kevin Magnussen lieten we daar ook punten door onze handen glippen. We hebben te veel kansen gemist. Voor mij voelt dit seizoen minder goed aan dan het vorige. Het is algemeen bekend dat we worstelen met de banden en de remmen."

Haas F1 Team moet in beweging blijven, weet Gene Haas. "Kijk naar de renstallen die kopje onder zijn gegaan. Daaruit kun je opmaken dat je heel hard moet pushen om succesvol te zijn in de Formule 1. Als je tevreden bent met een middelmatige performance, dan kun je succes wel op je buik schrijven. We moeten vooruitgang blijven boeken, anders zijn we zo weer vergeten."

Tja dan moet je niet twee clowns in je auto zetten. Grosjean die bij elke bocht om zn moeder roept omdat zn remmen zogenaamd niet werken en als het regent heeft ie een abbonnement op crashen in de muur.
Magnussen de wannabe Verstappen overaggressief zonder het talent.

  Ik ben het ten dele met je eens. Ik geloof ook dat Haas met 2 sterkere coureurs er beter voor gestaan zou hebben. Ik vind Alonso wel passen bij het team van Haas. Op Grosjean en Magnussen ben ik wel een beetje uit gekeken. Beide coureurs brengen niet wat ik er ooit van ze verwachtte. Welkicht Wehrlein of Perez? Lijken me forde kandidaten om van Haas een sterke middenmotor te maken.

  Ik denk het ook hoe in hemelsnaam past Alonso bij een team dat zelf toegeeft niet voor het kampioenschap te kunnen gaan...

  Een beetje te scherp door de bocht Roestbak, maar in essentie heb je wel gelijk. Beide rijders zijn leuk op goede dagen. Maar niet exceptioneel. Daarin moet ik wel een kanttekening plaatsen, wie voor een realistisch budget is er van het huidige veld wel goed genoeg voor Haas? Ik kan niet 1 rijder verzinnen die echt een versterking is zonder dat je diep(er) in de buidel moet tasten.

  LeClerc is een Ferrari junior, hetzelfde als Ocon voor Mercedes en Norris voor McLaren. Haas heeft aangegeven geen opleidingsteam te willen zijn. Dus Haas wilt niet tijd en geld investeren in een rijder, om die mogelijk volgend seizoen kwijt te zijn omdat Ferrari, McLaren of Mercedes hem terug wilt.

Ik heb bewondering voor Gene Haas. Het is niet niks om als privateer een compleet nieuw F1 team uit de grond te stampen. Tegelijkertijd is het ook een risico. Ik denk dat Gene Haas wel had verwacht om inmiddels enkele sponsoren aan zich te binden. De lol gaat er een keer af vrees ik door het feestje steeds grotendeels zelf te moeten betalen. Ook zijn zakken zijn niet eindeloos diep. Zeker als Haas eens een minder seizoen zou draaien, dan kan de motivatie snel verminderen. Hopelijk weten ze daar in de komende jaren een paar mooie sponsoren aan zich te binden, zou beter zijn.

  Het is echt knap dat ze meteen konden mee doen in het middenveld. Echt een aanwinst voor de grid. Ben benieuwd hoe het verder zal gaan.
