Romain Grosjean: "Niet onmogelijk voor Jolyon Palmer om terug te keren"

Romain Grosjean denkt dat het voor Jolyon Palmer mogelijk is om terug te keren in de Formule 1. Makkelijk zal het niet worden, maar de Haas F1-coureur lukte het zelf ook om een comeback te maken. 

Grosjean maakte in 2009 zijn debuut voor Renault nadat hij tijdens het seizoen het stoeltje van Nelson Piquet Jr. overnam en nieuwe teamgenoot van Fernando Alonso werd. Maar hij haalde geen enkel punt voor het team en keerde het jaar erop niet terug in de Formule 1. Grosjean vertelt aan Ziggosport: "Aan het einde van 2009 zat ik niet meer in de Formule 1. Ik reed de GT World Championship, Auto GP, GP2 en testte voor Pirelli. Daarna kwam ik pas weer terug in de Formule 1."

Het was een moeilijke tijd zo vertelt hij: "Ik ben door een zware periode heen gegaan, maar ik geloofde in mijn droom en maakte die waar door goed terug te komen in GP2. We hebben allemaal verschillende carrières, maar het is niet onmogelijk om terug te komen." Er is echter een beperkt aantal plaatsen beschikbaar: "Er zijn maar 20 stoeltjes in deze wereld, ieder stoeltje is nu bezet en we hebben lange carrières, dat maakt het moeilijker om terug te keren."

    Hopelijk niet. Na 35 races consistent te traag zijn, mag ik hopen dat zijn tijd er op zit in de F1.

      Wil wel even kwijt dat de wagens die hij bestuurde, ook tweede keus materiaal was. dus zou ik hem juis wel eens willen zien in een betere wagen die een stevige middemoot is.

      Ja, een duel met de winnaar van de test Kubica-Di Resta zou lachen zijn.
      Dat Williams zo alle kneuzen (o.a. Ericsson, Gutierrez, Haryanto, Maldonado en Yuji Ide) een kans geeft en uiteindelijk vlak voor Melbourne de ‘opperthoofdkneus’ definitief naast Stroll het stoeltje voor 2018 krijgt. ;)

      @ Larry - Maldonado vind ik nou niet direct een kneus. Hij had een knikker in zijn kop, maar kon wel degelijk bloedsnel zijn. En hij won zelfs.

      Als je teamgenoten 41 punten scoren en jij in diezelfde periode 7, dan is er wel degelijk wat mis. Heeft niks met het materiaal te maken. Een van zijn teamgenoten was dan ook nog Magnussen, nu niet bepaald de topper in wording.
